JFC TECHNOLOGIES, LLC OPENS PLANT IN NINGBO, CHINA
(Bound Brook, NJ) JFC Technologies, LLC ("JFC"), a researcher, developer and manufacturer of pharmaceutical ingredients and applied materials, today announced the startup of its bulk pharmaceutical ingredient plant in Ningbo, China. At the December 14th ribbon cutting ceremony, Jamie Schleck, President and CEO of JFC Technologies, stated that this direct investment in China is the first of its kind for a US-based bulk pharmaceutical producer. "We are unaware of any other US-based Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) producer which has made a direct investment in China in the form of a wholly foreign-owned enterprise," said Mr. Schleck.
JFC Technologies currently manufactures bulk Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, DEA-regulated products and specialty pharmaceutical polymers at the JFC global headquarters and ISO 9001:2000 manufacturing facility in Bound Brook, New Jersey. The JFC China plant, constructed on green fields, will complement the current manufacturing capabilities in Bound Brook with general pharmaceutical intermediate and API manufacturing in Asia. "Our customers will have the security of knowing that they are dealing with a company that embraces Western-style cGMP manufacturing while being able to leverage the lower operating cost of China."
The Ningbo facility is specifically built to be compliant with ICH Q7A guidelines for manufacturing of bulk APIs. The design of the Ningbo facility allows for flexibility in producing various, commercial-scale API products. The primary production area consists of isolated production suites with separate air handling and extended temperature capabilities for handling a wide variety of chemistries. The reaction equipment ranges in scale from 2,000 to 5,000 liters. "The Ningbo plant will be an excellent complement to our US facilities. We will be able to support products throughout their entire life cycle," stated JFC's Board Chairman, James R. Schleck, also present for the ceremony.
JFC Technologies hired the China Development Group (CDG) for advisory and consulting support services related to the project. "JFC Technologies is clearly embracing China as a platform for growth and success. The world-wide pharmaceutical industry is coming under intense pressure to reduce costs. The highly educated workforce of Ningbo, in addition to the low operating cost structure of China, will assure continued success for JFC Technologies," said Cheng Guo, President of China Development Group
